2019 Impact Awards

Within J&J Design, there hadn't been a set venue in place for us to celebrate or even see work from across the studio before we implemented the Impact Awards. It was born from a desire to give teams recognition internally in a fun and casual way that circumvents Johnson & Johnson's stringent legal constraints against entering work into established industry awards.

In just five months, we came up with the purpose, strategy, name, design system, award form, submission process and event planning/production. Necessarily scrappy, we made use of a single animated rendering, jeweler anvils purchased online for trophies and created intro "videos" in powerpoint by using gifs to illustrate the traits being celebrated for each award category.

We received 55 submissions from all parts of the organization and hosted an award show in the studio's lab.
