2021 Impact Awards

2021 felt like we were emerging from a cave, molting and shedding past versions to realize a new kind of existence within a strange new reality. We visualized this through a morphing, iridescent anvil rendering paired with messaging that acknowledges the challenges of the previous two years in a straightforward but sympathetic tone. Ryan Kang worked with us again to develop the intro videos and animations that reflect this theme.

This year was the first time I worked with a larger team to manage the event, allowing me to focus on the creative direction and design executions and taking more of a consulting role on other aspects of the awards.

We received 72 submissions in 2021 and hosted a hybrid event in the studio and over Zoom for those unable to join.

Based on feedback from the previous years, we split "The Good" into two categories — Good Neighbor and Planeteer — to recognize social good and environmental sustainability in separate groupings.
